How To Choose A Flight Training School?
Flight training is a program of study where a person can learn how to fly an aircraft. Basic airmanship skills are honed and acquired through primary and intermediate pilot training. The principles of flying an aircraft are basically the same regardless of types of planes. The Fliegershule Wasserkuppe is the world’s oldest known civil flight training school which is still in existence today.
Flying an aircraft can have great rewards. A pilot has the capability to move in three dimensions. He/she can have fun while enjoying all the travel and career opportunities. In order to become a pilot, on must have solid aviation training. Choosing the appropriate flight school is the first step in having such aviation rewards. Piloting requires a lot of patience. It is not for those people who make rush decisions because such decisions can have a negative outcome, especially during flight. Pilots have checklists to guarantee that all things have been accomplished prior to flying. Patiently going through the process of searching for the right flight training school is a start in developing patience.

One’s purpose in flying is the primary consideration in determining the type of flight training one needs and wants. Typical considerations can be the reason why one wants to fly; the person’s long term goal; choice between local and international flying; and if person owns a plan or not. Another consideration is whether training is full time or part time. Because all these are the person’s criteria in selecting a flight training school.
Flight schools can either be Part 61 or Part 141. In Part 61, a pilot needs a minimum of 40 flying hours before he/she can get certified. For Part 141, a minimum 35 flying hours are required. It should be noted however that a private carrier pilot needs 60-75 hours to be awarded a license while for pilots applying a license to fly commercial aircrafts, 250 hours are required for Part 61 and 190 hours is required for Part 141. The Federal Aviation Administration regularly audits Part 141 flight schools. The schools must have FAA-approved course outlines, and student performance rates must be achieved. The choice of flight school generally depends on a person’s available time, location, needs, and veteran’s benefit eligibility. However, only Part 141 flight training schools are certified for the reimbursed training.
A third category of pilot schools are for serious pilot wannabes. These nationally accredited pilot training institutions have the strictest accountability standards in every flight operation schools which desire to be accredited must apply to the agency recognized by the US Education Department. There are also piloting programs which offer a college degree on aviation. Enrolling in an aviation degree can make one more competitive. Also, scholarships and financial aid are available not only in acquiring the college degree but in pilot training as well.

A diligent aviation applicant makes a list of all potential flight training schools. A school’s literature can be acquired from each school so that one can compare each school. One must ask for a copy of the school’s regulations, curriculum of outline of each aviation training program, and its flight operations procedures. Every bit of information is important in determining the right flight training school for one’s needs. A visit to the pilot schools may be necessary in order to acquire the best information. A tour can even be requested to get the feel of the flight training the school offers. The Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, and the flight standards district office of the local Federal Aviation Administration can also visited for additional information. These organizations can provide important insights about the aviation industry in general.

In these centers trainers are also guided to get pilot licenses as early as possible. The cost of pursuing flight training from these centers is very high.
