Almost all candidates are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree to apply. The exception is the Army, where the task force consists primarily of helicopters instead of fixed-wing aircraft. Becoming an Army helicopter pilot does not need higher education or prior enlistment.
According to the spokeswoman at Fort Rucker in Alabama, they have a program known as “High School to Flight School” where the Army trains its pilot recruits. The program permits high school graduates to apply to become warrant officers, an important rank to attend Army Aviation School. Testing

Physical Condition

You should not have vision worse than 20/50 in either eye. To stay on flight status after the training, pilots can’t let their vision to get worse beyond 20/400. You cannot be either colorblind or have problems with depth perception.
You are required to accomplish all the physicals within 18 months prior to the weighing of your qualifications by the selection board for the helicopter pilot school.
Training
If accepted, first you will be required to attend nine weeks of basic combat training and another six weeks of warrant officer school.
Classroom instruction: As soon as you are in the warrant officer candidate school, you will continue to the flight training program at Fort Rucker. The program starts with instructions in the classroom on all the details of rotary-winged aircraft.
Flying: The training progresses rapidly to Warrior Hall, where new pilots will learn how to fly helicopters in simulators with spider-like metal legs. As soon as you have 7 ½ hours of simulator time under your belt, you will learn the combat maneuvers employed by Army pilots in trainer TH-67 helicopters. After that, you will now become a professional in one of four helicopters: the CH-47 Chinook, a transport chopper; AH-64 Apache, the main attack helicopter of the Army; UH-60 Black Hawk, constructed for search and rescue operations as well as for medical evacuations; or the OH-58 Kiowa reconnaissance aircraft.
